Dr. Breanne Poirier
Veterinary Behaviour Resident
BSc, DVM, CVA — Ontario Veterinary College, 2018
Dr. Breanne Poirier is a current resident in veterinary behaviour at the North Toronto clinic. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2018 and has since worked across a range of clinical settings, with a consistent focus on the emotional well-being of animals.
Throughout her career, Dr. Poirier has worked actively to reduce patient stress — both in the hospital and at home. She holds certification from the Fear Free Veterinary Professionals Program and the Low Stress Handling® Program, and has applied these approaches in every clinical environment she has worked in.
Dr. Poirier is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist, having completed the small animal acupuncture course at Chi University. Acupuncture has allowed her to incorporate an additional treatment modality across a range of conditions, including pain management and anxiety — areas she considers closely connected to behavioural and emotional wellbeing.
She brings extensive experience in veterinary telemedicine, which has strengthened her approach to client communication — a skill she considers essential when working with owners to understand and address behavioural concerns in their animals.
Outside of work, Dr. Poirier enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, swimming, and playing softball. She shares her home with her husband and her cat, Jafar.
